RYA Day Skipper Theory

5 Days (Monday to Friday),  or 2 weekends.
Maximum 5 students per course.

None, but some practical experience is desirable.

Seamanship, basic navigation and pilotage. Safety procedures and collision regulations.

5 continues days, course starting Monday till Friday from 09.00 till 17.00         
 

Part 1 starting on Saturday and Sunday from 09.00 till  17.00Hrs
Part 2 starting Saturday till Monday from 09.00 till 17.00 Hrs

 

The RYA Day Skipper theory course introduces the aspiring skipper to the wide range of subjects needed to take a cruising yacht to sea. These include the construction, parts and equipment of a yacht, emergency and safety equipment and procedures (such as distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, life jackets and life rafts)

Students are taught the basics of coastal navigation and pilotage on the RYA Day Skipper theory course, covering chart work, position fixing, plotting a course to steer, weather forecasting, a knowledge of tides and the International Regulation for Preventing of Collision at Sea.

This RYA Day Skipper theory course is conducted in our classroom in Medemblik and include all course materials, morning and afternoon coffee/tea.
